8 Ball – Ask the Turf Coach
Understands brand or chemical names + common turf problems. Adds a weather window check.
Glossary (why these matter)
- VPD (kPa) — Drives leaf drying. Greens ideal 0.8–1.3; fairways 0.9–1.4; high VPD firms surfaces but can stress and scalp.
- ET₀ (in) — Reference ET; higher ET₀ → higher irrigation need. Cloudy days lower ET₀.
- Cloud — Lowers canopy temp and photosynthesis; persistent high cloud slows zoysia recovery.
- Wind/Gust — Affects spray drift and leaf temp. Calm mornings (≤7 mph) are best.
- RH % — Foliar uptake and dew. Very high RH keeps canopies wet; disease risk ↑.
